Shetland Sheep - Small Farm Yarn - Pasture-Raised With Love in NH
It’s hard to believe mid-summer is upon us, it seemed like yesterday we were in the throes of lambing season and the snow was melting away. Fast forward to July and the lambs are getting big, hanging out with their mothers in the pasture, grazing and spending time chewing their cud in the shade. We have new fresh green hay in the barn ready for winter.
The dye gardens I started at the yarn shop have massive beautiful plants (all that good organic composted sheep manure!). I’ve harvested calendula and weld so far; the calendula was pale and a bit disappointing but the weld yielded a gorgeous yellow-green. I picked up piles of new yarn and have it labeled and stocked online. Four new Aran weight, three DK, three light fingering, and two jumper weight to add to our existing collections. I’ve been playing around with dyeing all kinds of colors and there are some projects in the works…
Coming up August 7-15 we will be part of the I-91 Shop Hop. There 13 yarn shops along the Interstate 91 corridor from CT, MA, VT, and NH. Don’t wait until it starts to pick up a passport, while supplies last they come with a canvas tote with the Shop Hop logo. Passports are $10 and can be purchased at participating shops; I have added them to our online shop as well so you can reserve yours. Passport holders can enter daily raffle drawings at each of the shops; collecting all 13 stamps will qualify you to enter the grand prize drawing. Each shop also will have a unique free pattern for participants!
We will be open extended hours during the Shop Hop!

The Fall Fiber Festival will be here before we know it. Saturday September 26, from 10-4 will be our next free open farm event. Come interact with our friendly little Shetland sheep, learn how wool goes from sheep to garment, check out all the newest yarn shop offerings, and try your hand at fiber arts. There will be shearing, carding, spinning, weaving, and felting demonstrations. Food available by donation. Please leave dogs at home, and don’t wear your “good” shoes.
Finally, I can’t emphasize enough how much I enjoy interacting with all of you. It makes me so happy to have people enter the yarn shop and declare that they’ve traveled a distance JUST to visit our farm. I also love it when passers-by pull in and say “I’ve driven by here so many times and keep meaning to check it out”, and find themselves delighted with our sheep and offerings. It continues to amaze me that I send out these daily journal entries and photos on social media and so much joy boomerangs back to me!

I-91 Shop Hop
Coming up in August, we’ll be joining the I-91 Shop Hop. You’ll be able to pre-order a bag from us to pick up and get started on your journey. 13 participating yarn shops along I-91 from NH, VT, MA, CT will be open (extended hours for us!) with daily door prizes, free patterns, and FUN.
